What Critics Praised

IGN's 9/10 review, quoted on the Steam page, sums it up as "compelling combat, and limitless swagger", and singles out how weapon swaps restore posture, the easy reallocation of upgrade points, and a missable questline tied to Donnie Yen's gold-masked character. GamesRadar+ calls it "a GOTY contender".

GameSpot's 8/10 review headline makes the same point from the other side: the combat is so good you won't care the story makes no sense.

What Critics Criticized

The most common complaint is the story: IGN calls it convoluted and GameSpot's headline says it makes no sense. IGN also reports geometry snags, invisible walls and one map with a poor frame rate.

Eurogamer's 3/5 is the lowest score in the Game Beacon roundup, and Polygon published an unscored review.
